EMC INDIA’S GO-TO-MARKET STRATEGY DRIVES 2007 MOMENTUM
Announces 25 new information infrastructure products, opens Hyderabad office & strengthens leadership team. Customer base crosses 900!
New Delhi - September 18, 2007

EMC, the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced 25 new information infrastructure products and solutions in India, and demonstrated the increased momentum that its India go-to-market strategy has delivered. This includes opening a new office in Hyderabad, strengthening the India leadership team and announcing that 75 educational institutions in India have entered the EMC Academy Program, aimed at building a resource pool of skilled, industry ready information management and storage professionals in the country.

Speaking to the media, Manoj Chugh, President, EMC India & SAARC said, “EMC, though its partners, has made a tremendous impact in the Indian market in a short time and today I am pleased to announce that more than 907 Indian organizations are EMC customers. Our momentum is a testament to the success of our India Go-To-Market strategy.

“With the explosion of information quantity and complexity, Indian organizations of all sizes are looking to store, protect, optimize and leverage this information. EMC and our partners are there to help them build an intelligent information infrastructure for competitive advantage” he added.

Today’s announcements of 25 new hardware and software solutions are targeted at growing businesses to large enterprises across verticals in India. A number of these products were collaboratively developed at the EMC India Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bangalore, EMC’s largest software development facility outside of North America. The products announced (see appendix for complete list) include high-end and mid-range storage arrays, data protection software, information security software and content management solutions. Grouped in the four categories of Store, Protect, Optimize and Leverage, they offer customers in India the tools they need to build an intelligent information infrastructure.

In order to meet the growing demand for information infrastructure in India and strengthen EMC’s customer focus, EMC also announced the appointment of Sanjay Hasija as National Manager, Backup, Recovery & Archiving (India and SAARC) and Owais Khan as Director Client Services (India and SAARC). Both individuals will be part of the India leadership team.

EMC’s newest office in Hyderabad is its 7th office in the India and SAARC region, and will extend EMC’s focus in growing the market for information infrastructure in South India. According to EMC estimates, in 2007 the market for EMC’s information infrastructure products and solutions in India across the Financial Services, Telecommunications, Media & Entertainment, Public Sector, Healthcare, Discrete Manufacturing, Retail and Energy verticals exceeds USD603 million. EMC estimates that the information infrastructure solution needs are growing at more than 12 per cent annually. Globally in 2007, EMC estimates the total addressable market for information infrastructure to be USD 61 billion.

EMC also announced that University School of Information Technology, Indraprastha University, Delhi was the 75th educational institution to join the EMC Academy Program. The EMC Academy Program is an academic partnership with leading educational institutions in India, aimed at building a resource pool of skilled, industry ready information management and storage professionals in the country. Launched in India two years ago, this program is expected to produce 10,000 graduates by 2010 to meet the burgeoning demand for information storage and management professionals around the world.

EMC announced the following new products aimed at helping Indian customers store, protect, optimize and leverage their information:

STORE

1. EMC CLARiiON CX3-10 FC/iSCSI SYSTEM can scale to 30TB of capacity. It features combined Fibre Channel and iSCSI connectivity within the same array, providing customers with maximum deployment flexibility and highly efficient storage consolidation.

2. The new EMC® Symmetrix® DMX-4 series feature an end-to-end 4 gigabit-per-second (Gb/s) architecture, a new Fibre Channel point-to-point back-end for higher levels of reliability, and are the first high-end arrays to support both high speed Fibre Channel disk drives and new low-cost 750 GB (gigabyte) SATA II disk drives that can reduce energy consumption by up to 33 percent.

3. The newest generation of EMC Centera content addressed storage (CAS) system was specifically designed by EMC with low-power processors and chipsets, adaptive cooling and more efficient power supplies to reduce energy consumption while also offering 50 percent more storage capacity per node using new 750 GB SATA disk drives.

4. New EMC CLARiiON® CX3 networked storage system capabilities incorporates more leading functionality with the addition of new built-in security capabilities that provide customers with improved access control and expanded compliance and audit features. In addition, CLARiiON CX3 iSCSI capabilities have been extended with support for native iSCSI remote replication for cost-effective business continuity.

5. The new EMC Celerra® NS20 and NS40 multi-protocol storage systems can be easily deployed in network attached storage (NAS) and storage area network (SAN) environments using iSCSI or Fibre Channel connectivity. Using the new Celerra Startup Assistant software, these systems are easy to use and manage, going from power up to production in 15 minutes.

PROTECT

6. EMC NetWorker 7.0 software now offers improved management and support capabilities for customers using NetWorker software in multiple locales. Additionally, new ease of use features in NetWorker software include centralized software distribution, enhanced GUI flexibility and an improved UNIX recovery interface.

7. EMC NetWorker support for De-duplication and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) - With new integration of data de-duplication from EMC Avamar® and continuous data protection from EMC RecoverPoint™, EMC continues to build on the NetWorker core infrastructure and provide customers with advanced, next-generation capabilities for backup and recovery.

8. The new EMC RecoverPoint/SE software is a part of the RecoverPoint family and specifically designed for network-based replication between any two CLARiiON CX and/or CLARiiON CX3 UltraScale systems. This data protection solution provides customers with any point-in-time recovery of their data from events including database corruption, server failures, software errors, viruses, end-user errors and other events that can take down the operations of an entire data center or IT facility.

9. EMC® Disk Library (DL) 6000 series can store up to 1.8 petabytes* of information in a single appliance and can backup more than 11 terabytes of data per hour. Based on the EMC® Symmetrix® DMX-3 storage platform, the new EMC DL6000 model provides high level of scalability, performance and software capabilities.

10. EMC® Disk Library (DL) 4000 series – The EMC Disk Library DL4000 now supports RAID 6 and new 1 terabyte (TB) drives that provide 30% more capacity at 10% lower cost per gigabyte.

11. The latest version of EMC Avamar® software now supports VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB) software, reducing backup times of virtual machines by up to 90%. Additionally, Avamar software now includes expanded file server support, enabling faster backups of EMC Celerra® network-attached storage (NAS) systems.

12. EMC RecoverPoint – New Integration with Microsoft VSS and EMC Replication Manager provides heterogeneous data protection and recovery. This enables customers to run the solution on an out-of-band appliance with either a host agent or a switch located in the network (in-band).

13. RSA FraudactionSM Anti-Trojan Service to extend anti-phishing, anti-pharming infrastructure and online fraud expertise to help counter rapidly-evolving crime ware attacks. FraudActionSM Anti-Trojan service is designed to help companies secure their organizations, brands and customers from a new generation of crime ware attacks.

14. RSA’s expanded Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) Solution portfolio, helps enable customers to answer the most challenging IT security technology challenges associated with the PCI DSS. RSA also announced a new blueprint for promoting compliance by discovering data and infrastructure, assessing risk, enacting remediation and ensuring sustained controls.

The new RSA® enVision™ solution will help customers accelerate their businesses by solving their most sensitive and complex security challenges. RSA enVision Information Management Platform is engineered to collect All the Data™ necessary to effectively and efficiently maximize an organization's security posture and to reduce the burden of compliance.

16. Backup Advisor V3.0 - EMC Backup Advisor software is a customizable backup reporting, alerting, monitoring, and correlation analysis tool for EMC NetWorker and third-party backup software products.

17. HomeBase V6.0 - Bare Metal Recovery solution complementary to EMC NetWorker and EMC Avamar.

18. EMC® Geographically Dispersed Disaster Restart Solution automates remote restart operations for improved information protection and availability in mainframe environments.

19. EMC® Backup Manager for SharePoint software and EMC NetWorker™ Module for MEDITECH provides customers with application-aware backup and recovery of collaborative and healthcare data, respectively.

OPTIMIZE

20. EMC EmailXtender software's user-directed archiving functionality provides a new approach to archiving e-mail. Now corporate users, who understand their content best, can categorize e-mails as business records and therefore determine which messages should be archived.

21. The new version of DiskXtender for Windows software expands policy-based file system archiving, which migrates inactive data off production storage to archive disk, tape or optical devices. With a new search module, DiskXtender for Windows software delivers comprehensive file index and search across DiskXtender-managed drives on servers, direct attached storage and storage area networks, allowing managers to easily locate both active and archived files for audit, analysis and legal discovery.

22. EMC DiskXtender for NAS software is an automated file archiving software that migrates inactive files from primary NAS to secondary tiers of storage. Adds support for filers from Network Appliance along with previously supported EMC Celerra® systems, enabling inactive file migration and long term data retention to platforms such as EMC Centera® content-addressed storage systems, EMC CLARiiON® networked storage or other storage archives.

23. The new Rainfinity File Management Appliance™ (FMA) enables organizations to easily and cost-effectively implement policy-based file management and automatically move and retrieve files across the entire NAS infrastructure. It works with EMC Celerra, other NAS systems and EMC Centera™ content addressed storage (CAS) systems.

APPENDIX – NEW PRODUCTS ANNOUNCED IN INDIA IN OCTOBER 2007

24. EMC® Documentum® 6 enterprise content management (ECM) platform enables rapid and flexible development, configuration, and deployment of enterprise content applications. The Documentum 6 platform is a key piece of EMC’s Documentum suite, a broad spectrum of ECM products that include software covering transactional content management, archiving, knowledge worker, compliance, interactive content management, and platform infrastructure.

25. EMC® Documentum® TaskSpace is a highly configurable, new user interface for the next generation Documentum 6 enterprise content management (ECM) platform. TaskSpace is designed for a high-volume, content-rich task processing, providing sophisticated capture and business process management (BPM) capabilities.
