EMC, the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced that Alok Ohrie will succeed Manoj Chugh as the President of EMC India & SAARC Region. Ohrie, a 20-year IT industry veteran in India, joins EMC from AMD where he was the Vice President & Managing Director for AMD’s India operations. Prior to joining AMD, Ohrie spent 13 years with IBM Global Services India in a number of executive management positions, including Director of the Systems and Technology Group for India and South Asia. During the early part of his career, Ohrie worked at Wipro Infotech and ESPL Limited. Ohrie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Communication from National Institute of Technology (formerly REC) Suratkal.
“India is an important and strategic market where EMC has announced more than $500 million in investments, and Bangalore is home to one of our two Centres of Excellence located in Asia Pacific & Japan,” said Ron Goh, President, EMC South Asia. “I’m pleased to announce someone of Alok’s caliber as our new leader for India. Alok’s extensive technology and leadership experience will continue to position India as both a source of innovation and revenue growth for EMC.”
Ohrie brings 20 years of rich IT-industry focused business-management experience to EMC. He will lead EMC’s India & SAARC sales and service organizations with responsibility for the region’s total revenue, its current and future customers, and EMC’s various partners. Ohrie will work closely with Sarv Saravanan, who is responsible for EMC's Centre of Excellence based in Bangalore, to expand EMC's products and services capabilities in India.
“Now is an exciting time to join EMC in India,” said Alok Ohrie. “The EMC information infrastructure value proposition for India customers and partners in the enterprise and commercial markets has never been stronger, and I look forward to building upon the strong foundation established by EMC under the leadership of Manoj Chugh.”
